Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using the Forklar Meg app ("Service") you accept these terms of service. If you do not accept the terms, do not use the Service.

2. What the Service Does – and Does Not Do

Forklar Meg uses artificial intelligence to read a document you upload and explain, in plain language, what it says. This is a precise definition of what you can expect, and it defines what the Service is:

The Service does:

• Explain what the document you uploaded actually says, with references to the rules the explanation builds on
• Point out clauses and figures that stand out compared with Norwegian legislation
• Show which independent bodies exist, and produce letter drafts you edit and send yourself
• Explains what the law says about a situation you describe, with a link to the provision on Lovdata – without assessing your case

The Service does not:

• Assess your case, decide who is right, or predict an outcome
• Cover every situation that may arise from the document. We explain what it says – not everything that could happen because of it
• Take responsibility for the content of the document itself. If an agreement is unfavourable to you, that is the agreement, not our analysis
• Replace a lawyer, public guidance, or a qualified interpreter

What we are responsible for is that what we state is correct: that figures, deadlines and legal references we present are actually found in your document or in the sources we cite.

3. What the Service Is Not

ForklarMeg is a tool for understanding text – not a replacement for professional advice. The Service does not assess your situation. An assessment of your specific case is something only a qualified professional (lawyer, accountant, doctor) can give.

4. User Responsibilities

As a user of the Service you are responsible for:

• Only uploading documents you have the right to share
• Not uploading illegal, offensive or harmful content
• Verifying information from the Service with qualified sources
• Keeping your login credentials confidential
• Not misusing the Service or attempting to bypass security measures
• That audio recordings and photos you log yourself are lawfully obtained and lawfully shared: covert recording of conversations between others is a criminal offence (Norwegian Penal Code section 205), photos of people can generally not be shown publicly without consent (Copyright Act section 104), and sharing degrading or clearly private recordings can be a criminal offence even towards a single recipient (Penal Code section 267 a)

5. Intellectual Property Rights

All intellectual property rights to the Service, including software, design and content, belong to ForklarMeg or our licensors.

You retain all rights to documents and text you upload. By using the Service you grant us a limited license to process the content to deliver the analysis service.

6. When the AI Gets It Wrong

The Service uses AI models from OpenAI. AI can be wrong. Here is what that means in practice:

• An AI-generated explanation can be wrong even when it looks confident and detailed. A precisely worded answer is not the same as a correct one.
• Laws, rates and deadlines change. An analysis reflects the rules as they were when it was made.
• The app only knows what is written in the document you uploaded. It does not know when you received the letter, what was agreed verbally, or what else has happened in your case.
• Amounts and dates are calculated in code against official rates – not by the language model. The explanatory text itself is AI-generated.
• Every analysis links to its sources precisely so the content can be checked against the original.

This is stated here because it defines what you have grounds to expect from the Service. Forklar Meg delivers an AI-generated explanation with source references – not a guaranteed correct account of the legal position in your case.

7. Prices and Payment

The Service offers both free and paid features:

• Free: 1 free analysis to get started, and 5 questions per day in the Explainer
• Pro subscription: 199 NOK/month gives 50 analyses per month. 69 NOK/week gives 10 analyses per week. A subscription also gives 30 questions per day in the Explainer.

The subscription renews automatically for each period (month or week) until you cancel. Manage or cancel it in your App Store account. The price is shown in the app before you buy. If we raise the price of a running subscription, the App Store asks whether you accept it — if you do not, the renewal stops.

8. Right of Withdrawal

Under the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act you have 14 days to withdraw, counted from when the contract was concluded. The right lapses before that deadline only if all three are met: you expressly asked for delivery to begin within the withdrawal period, you acknowledged that the right would then be lost, and you received confirmation of the contract. If not all three are met, you keep the right.

9. Termination

You can terminate your use of the Service at any time by:

• Deleting the app from your device
• Requesting deletion of your account via Settings
• Contacting us at support@forklaraimeg.no

Upon subscription cancellation, you have access to paid features until the end of the current billing period.

10. Your Rights if Something Is Wrong

ForklarMeg is a digital service covered by the Norwegian Digital Services Act (digitalytelsesloven). That law cannot be set aside to your disadvantage, and we do not attempt to do so.

• If the service has a defect, you may claim a remedy, a price reduction, or termination, and compensation for your loss under the Act.
• Complain to us first at support@forklaraimeg.no. If we disagree, you can bring the case to Forbrukertilsynet or Forbrukerklageutvalget.

What we do not promise: the app explains documents and shows sources, but it does not decide your case and cannot guarantee an outcome. You decide yourself what to do with the information. For legally significant decisions, a review by a lawyer or other qualified professional is what gives an assessment of your specific case – the Service does not provide that.

11. Changes to Terms

We may change these terms. For material changes you will be notified in the app at least 30 days before they take effect, and told what is changing. If you disagree, you may cancel before the change takes effect and keep access for the period you have paid for. Changes to the service itself follow the Norwegian Digital Services Act chapter 9, which applies regardless of what is written here.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. If something is wrong, contact us first — most matters are resolved there. If that does not succeed, you may bring the case before the Norwegian Consumer Authority, the Consumer Disputes Commission or the courts. As a consumer you may sue where you live.

For consumers, the rules of the Consumer Purchases Act and the Right of Withdrawal Act also apply.
